Google closes in on Nvidia as world's most valuable company

For two years, the agreed-upon story was that Google had already lost the artificial intelligence race. A rival's chatbot had arrived, and a rival's chips were powering everything built after it. Google reportedly declared an internal "code red" within weeks of ChatGPT's launch in late 2022. The press wrote the obituary for search, and much of the industry moved on. This week, that one-time A.I. afterthought is worth roughly four point eight trillion dollars. Per CNBC, that puts Alphabet within reach of Nvidia as the most valuable company on Earth. Google Cloud revenue grew sixty-three percent last quarter. Its Gemini model is now widely rated among the strongest systems available. Google also designs its own A.I. chips competing directly with the company it is closing in on. Tomorrow, Google opens its annual developer conference.
